There are few other levers that can influence demand, profitability and customer behavior as pricing. It is a way of keeping customers, driving them away, or making them so unhappy they will drop you as soon as they can.
Economic conditions have a major influence on prices. When times are good, pricing sins are frequently forgiven by customers. But when the economy sours and there are pricing blunders, the consequences can, and often are, immediate and severe.
